Joining, Leaving, and Changing Community
A community is a group of neighbors — a town, a neighborhood, a building — who can see the tools each other has marked as available to lend. You can join one, create one, or use ToolBud with friends only. Friends stay yours regardless of which community you are in.

Common Questions
How do I join a community?
Search for it by name during setup, or later from the Community area. If yours is not listed, you can create it.
Can I be in more than one community?
No — one at a time. Your friend connections are separate and stay with you whichever community you are in.
How do I leave or switch?
From the Community area, choose to leave. If that option is not available to you, email support@toolbudapp.com and we will take care of it.
Is there a wait before I can join another one?
Your first join is free — no wait. After that, leaving starts a 30-day wait before you can join or create another community, so membership means something rather than being somewhere people hop between. Re-selecting the same community you are already in is not affected. If you have a genuine reason to move sooner, email support@toolbudapp.com.
Why will it not let me leave?
Leaving is blocked while you have a borrow or lend in progress with someone in that community. Finish those sessions first.
What happens to my tools and friends when I leave?
Your tools and your friends stay yours. What changes is who else can see the tools you have marked as available — the community you left no longer can.
The community name or location is wrong. Can I fix it?
Yes. Use the report option in the Community area and pick what is wrong — wrong city or state, a name that changed, a duplicate, or two that should be merged. ToolBud reviews it and follows up if needed.
What if my community does not exist yet?
Create it. You will be its founder, and neighbors can find and join it from then on.
