Blocking and Reporting Someone

Blocking and reporting are two different tools. Blocking stops someone from reaching you. Reporting tells ToolBud that someone’s conduct needs looking at. You can do either, or both, and the other person is never told.

Do

Open their profile and use the menu in the top corner to block or report
Block anyone who makes you uncomfortable — you do not owe an explanation
Report conduct that breaks the Community Guidelines, even if you also blocked them
Close out any active borrow session before blocking, if you can

Don't

Assume blocking hides your tools or your posts from them — it does not
Expect to hear back about what happened to a report

Common Questions

How do I block someone?

Open their profile and tap the menu in the top corner, then Block. You can also go to Profile > Privacy & Safety > Block a Member and pick from your friends and recent conversations.

What does blocking actually do?

They cannot send you a borrow request, and neither of you can start a new message thread with the other. Any borrow request between you that has not reached pickup yet — whether it is waiting on a decision, already approved, approved with changes, or waiting for the handoff — is cancelled automatically. It works in both directions, so you do not need them to block you back. One deliberate exception: if a borrow is already underway, that session’s thread stays open so you can still arrange getting the tool back.

What does blocking NOT do?

It does not hide your profile, your tools, or your posts from them, and it does not remove their posts from your Home feed. It stops contact, not visibility.

What happens to a borrow that is already underway?

It continues, and your message thread for it stays open. A tool is physically in someone’s hands, so ToolBud does not cut off the conversation you need to get it back. Finish the session, then block if you still want to.

How do I unblock someone?

Profile > Privacy & Safety > Blocked Members, then unblock them from the list.

Does the person know I blocked or reported them?

No. Neither action notifies them.

How do I report someone?

Open their profile, tap the menu in the top corner, and choose Report. It takes one tap.

What happens after I report someone?

The report goes to ToolBud for review and is kept on record. You will not get a case number or a status update, and reports are not visible in the app afterwards. If something is urgent or unsafe, email support@toolbudapp.com so a person sees it directly.

Should I report or open a session issue?

Report is about a person’s conduct — harassment, a fake account, something unsafe. Report Issue on a session is about that specific borrow, like damage or a tool not coming back. Use both if both apply.
