Borrowing a Tool
Borrow Tools helps you find tools that neighbors have made available. Search or browse from ToolShed Market, open the tool detail, and send a request with the dates and note the owner needs to review. The owner can approve, adjust, or decline the request.

Do
•Check the tool description and photos before requesting
•Include a note to the lender explaining your project
•Pick up and return on the agreed dates
•Take photos at pickup and return for your records
•Use Ask Your Community, Ask Your Friends, Join or Create a Community, Add Friends, or ToolShed Market when Borrow has no results
Don't
•Request tools you do not actually need
•Ignore messages from the lender
•Return tools late without communicating
•Keep borrowing from the same person without reciprocating
Common Questions
Can I cancel a borrow request?
Yes. You can cancel anytime before the lender initiates checkout. After checkout starts, the session is active and must be completed.
What if the lender adjusts my request?
You will see the adjusted terms and can accept or withdraw your request.
What if Borrow shows no results?
ToolBud shows recovery options based on your account state. Community members can ask the community, users with friends can ask friends, users without a community can join or create one, and users without an audience can add friends or browse ToolShed Market.
