Setting Up Your Account
Setting up takes a few minutes. You will create an account, agree to the legal documents, add your name and phone number, confirm your phone by text, and then add your address so ToolBud can find communities near you. Joining a community is optional — you can use ToolBud with friends only and join one later.

How do I sign up?
You can create an account with an email address and password, or continue with Apple or Google. All three work the same way from there.
Do I have to be a certain age?
Yes. ToolBud is for adults — you must be at least 18 to create an account.
What are the steps, in order?
Create your account, agree to the legal documents, add your name, email, and phone number, confirm your phone by text, then add your address and either join a community, create one, or continue with friends only.
Why do you need my phone number?
ToolBud sends a one-time code by text to confirm the number is yours. Verified numbers make it much harder to create throwaway accounts, which is what keeps neighbor-to-neighbor lending trustworthy. Verification is separate from text notifications, which stay off unless you turn them on.
Why do you need my address?
It is how ToolBud works out which communities are near you and whether you are eligible to join one. Your address is not shown to other members, and you can change it later in Profile > Manage Account > Edit Address.
Do I have to join a community?
No. You can choose Continue with Friends Only and use ToolBud entirely with people you connect with directly. You can join or create a community whenever you want.
Do I have to agree to the legal documents?
Yes — the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Community Guidelines. You can open and read each one from that screen before you agree, and read them any time afterwards in Profile > Privacy & Safety.
