Every member shares through friends or community membership, so the person whose drill you're borrowing is connected to the same local network. You'll see what they have, where they are, and how to get in touch.
Request to borrow.
Send a request through the app, coordinate pickup, and confirm the dates. No fees. No rental contracts. No platform middleman. Just a short, neighborly back-and-forth that ends with "yeah, come grab it."
If the tool you need isn't in your local network, ask your community for help — a neighbor might know someone who has one, or you can buy a used one in ToolShed Market.

Borrowing and lending are free. No rental fees between neighbors, no platform commission, no "host" or "guest" relationship. Borrowing a hammer from someone three streets over isn't a transaction — it's the start of a conversation.
ToolBud is not a peer-to-peer rental app. Tools move between neighbors the way they always have: a quick ask, a pickup, a return. We don't charge per hour, take a cut, or sit between you and the person down the block.
When buying or selling makes sense, that happens between neighbors too. Sellers list used tools they no longer need; buyers reach out directly. It's a community market for used gear — no checkout, no commissions, not a fee-driven rental platform.
ToolBud is not a contractor dispatch service. No one is dispatched, no one is hired by us. The tools — and the help — come from people you know, or people your community knows. That's the whole point.
