How It Works
Borrowing and lending between neighbors, built on verified community and friends-first trust. Three steps. No fees. Always free.
The Journey
Open ToolBud and search your neighborhood for the tool you need. Listings come from your friends first, then from verified neighbors and trusted community members in your area.
Every member is address-verified, so the person whose drill you're borrowing is exactly who their profile says they are. You'll see what they have, where they are, and how to get in touch.
Send a request through the app, coordinate pickup, and confirm the dates. No fees. No rental contracts. No platform middleman. Just a short, neighborly back-and-forth that ends with "yeah, come grab it."
If the tool you need isn't in your local network, ask your community for help — a neighbor might know someone who has one, or might point you to a used listing in the ToolShed Market.
Use the tool for your project, then return it on the agreed date — clean, charged, and in the same shape it left. That's the ToolBud standard.
Lend when you can. Borrow only what you need. Return it better than you found it.
Built Different
Every ToolBud member is address-verified. That means the person whose drill you're borrowing is exactly who their profile says they are — and they know the same about you. Verification is the floor that everything else stands on. Anonymous account, fake address, throwaway phone number? Not on ToolBud.
Your ToolBud network starts with the people you already know — friends, family, the neighbors whose names you actually remember — and expands outward to the verified community around you. Trust grows the way it does in real life: from the inside out. You decide how big your circle gets.
Snap a photo of a tool and ToolBud identifies it automatically. Import your purchase history and your inventory builds itself in seconds. The faster your toolbox gets organized, the faster a neighbor down the street can find the one tool they need for their Saturday project.
No rental fees. No transaction commissions. No premium tier. ToolBud is built on the idea that neighbors help neighbors — not charge each other. The app is, and will stay, free for every member of the community.
Borrow First. Buy Second.
Borrowing and lending are free. No rental fees between neighbors, no platform commission, no "host" or "guest" relationship. Borrowing a hammer from someone three streets over isn't a transaction — it's the start of a conversation.
ToolBud is not a peer-to-peer rental app. Tools move between neighbors the way they always have: a quick ask, a pickup, a return. We don't charge per hour, take a cut, or sit between you and the person down the block.
ToolShed Market supports used-tool discovery when borrowing isn't the right fit. Neighbors list used tools they no longer need; buyers reach out directly. It's a community marketplace for used gear — not a fee-driven rental platform.
ToolBud is not a contractor dispatch service. No one is dispatched, no one is hired by us. The tools — and the help — come from people you know, or people your community knows. That's the whole point.
