Importing Your Tools

Add your entire tool inventory at once. Import File is for text-based purchase history (CSV, XLSX, text-based PDF, text exports, and email exports). Photos and receipts are handled separately in Upload Photos and Upload Receipts.

Do

  • Use Import File for text-based exports: CSV, XLSX, text-based PDF, text exports, or email exports
  • Use Upload Photos or Upload Receipts for image-based inputs
  • Review every detected item in the Import Review Hub before confirming
  • Edit names and categories if the AI got them wrong
  • Import in batches if you have a large purchase history

Don't

  • Upload photos or receipt images through Import File — use Upload Photos or Upload Receipts instead
  • Import without reviewing — consumables and non-tools may be detected
  • Worry if some items are flagged for review — that is normal
  • Import the same file twice — duplicates are detected automatically

Common Questions

What file formats are supported?

Import File supports CSV, XLSX, text-based PDF, text exports, and email exports. Photos and receipts are handled in Upload Photos and Upload Receipts.

How does the AI know what is a tool?

ToolBud analyzes item names and descriptions to classify each item. Tools, tool-adjacent items, and consumables are handled differently. Items that are clearly not tools (like clothing or groceries) are excluded automatically.

What if something is detected incorrectly?

You can edit any item's name, category, or details during the review step before confirming. You can also remove any item you do not want added to your inventory.

What happens if I import a file I already imported?

ToolBud detects duplicate imports automatically. Items that already exist in your inventory will be flagged so you do not end up with duplicates.

Where do I review imported items?

Items that need your attention land in the Import Review Hub, which is accessible from MyToolBox.
